General Summary

The Regional Clinical Director, Psychiatry is responsible for oversight of clinical operations in the assigned region.  The Regional Clinical Director will use established clinical models, systems and protocols in the planning, management and support of the services provided within contracted facilities and in the outpatient setting.  The role supports the CHE psychiatry clinician to function safely and efficiently, collaborating with psychology services.  The Regional Clinical Director will support employees and are leaders in cultivating an environment, which encourages teamwork and employee satisfaction. 

 

Goals

  • Provide direct clinical services weekly in California
    • 40 RVU’s per week minimum expectation
  • Remotely provide on-boarding training and support to nurse practitioners and clients as needed in California.
  • Support clinicians to build caseloads and deliver care that patients rate highly, setting goals for region in consultation with corporate leadership
  • Provide case review, documentation review and audits for nurse 
  • Review nurse practitioner productivity reporting on a weekly basis and provide updates to management team

 

Education

  • MSN-Nurse Practitioner

 

Experience

  • 3 years of clinician leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in skilled nursing & rehabilitation required 
  • Outpatient telehealth experience a plus

 

Knowledge

  • Previous experience in management and long-term care preferred

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between company administration, facility staff and company employees.
  • Responsible for financial performance of region through support of clinical productivity.
  • Assures compliance with company and policies and procedures.
  • Leads Talent Acquisition team on all Psychiatry openings in territory, interviewing potential candidates for clinical knowledge and independent practice skills.
  • Oversees onboarding of new psychiatry clinicians: serving as their mentor, providing medication call, and performing documentation audits with feedback. 
  • Performs annual documentation audit for psychiatry staff to assist in the identification of problem areas and develop action plans to correct identified deficiencies, coordinating any concerns as appropriate with CHE Compliance Office.
  • Assesses educational needs of clinical staff, developing targeted educational opportunities to improve clinical knowledge of assigned clinicians.
  • Represents psychiatry for the Region on the corporate Psychiatry Steering Committee.
  • Manages operational practices and supports organizational and staff performance to help formulate and implement improvement activities to assure safe, quality patient care, in accordance with applicable regulations and established standards of care.  
  • Provide compliance oversight with Psychiatry & Nurse Practitioner collaborative agreements. 
  • Supports start-ups of outpatient clinical practice
  • Provides psychiatry coverage at an assigned facility or outpatient hours two days per week.

MSN-Psychiatric/Mental Health, ANCC Certification. Psychotropic medication management experience, and DEA. Family Nurse Practitioners with 3-5 years of experience will be considered. Preferred Psych certification.  

Additional Duties:

• Assess patient’s mental and physical status based on symptoms. 
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans. 
• Consult with psychiatrists or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered. 
• Develop and implement treatment plans. 
• Distinguish between physiologically and psychologically based disorders and diagnose appropriately. 
• Prescribe appropriate medications for physical and mental health issues. Will plan and institute a course of treatment demonstrating knowledge of drug action, interaction, and reactions. Prescribe or recommend controlled medications according to existing core privileges.
